While cold brew and iced coffee are often grouped together, they are brewed in entirely
different ways. Cold brew is made by steeping coarsely ground coffee in cold water for
12-24 hours, resulting in a smooth, less acidic flavor profile. Iced coffee, however, is
brewed hot and then chilled, typically by pouring over ice. This method maintains the
acidity and boldness of hot coffee but in a refreshing, cold form. Both have their appeal,
but the choice depends on whether you prefer the strong, sharp notes of iced coffee or
the mellow smoothness of cold brew.
